The Situation
A biogas plant in Yorkshire, producing electricity and biomethane from manure and other waste products, had suffered a breakdown to a critical ATEX electric motor. The 160kW motor was a ‘special’ and a replacement wouldn’t be available for three weeks. The on-site Engineering Manager called his local HAYLEY DEXIS branch and explained the situation, also confirming a rate of £300p/h were being suffered in downtime-associated costs.
The Solution
A member of the in-branch team arranged for a courier to collect the failed unit and deliver it to the certified ATEX-rated motor rewind specialists at HAYLEY 247 DEXIS in King’s Lynn. As soon as the asset arrived in the workshop, engineers began a strip and inspection process, before commencing a full rewind.
Work continued through the night and once tested, the unit was shipped back directly to the biogas plant for recommissioning.
